On the Trail of Mining

A journey of discovery through history on the Kupfererzweg (Copper Ore Trail)
Immerse yourself in a bygone world and experience the fascinating history of mining up close! Our guided hike takes you along the copper ore trail up to the historic Berghaus/Knappenhaus - a place where the hard life of the miners once pulsated. Along the way, you will discover traces of mining dating back to the Middle Ages: old spoil tips, mysterious tunnel entrances and the disused open-cast mine. At the Kramstollen, you will gain exciting insights into how ore used to be extracted, while you stand at the remains of the Georgi underground mine and imagine the enormous labour of the miners. Another highlight: the archaeological finds at Kropfsberg Castle, which provide fascinating insights into the life and economy of past centuries. From there, the route continues to Brixlegg, where you can round off the hike in comfort. If you want to delve even deeper into the history of mining, you can visit the Tyrolean Mining and Ironworks Museum - a perfect end to the tour for anyone who wants to experience history up close. Come along and feel the spirit of times gone by - a hike full of discoveries and impressive nature awaits you!
