Hike around the Gratlspitze

Join us and experience an impressive hike with stunning views and a picturesque mountain backdrop! The Gratlspitze has its allure from every side, and with this circular hike, you'll encounter a variety of landscapes. Starting from the village center in Alpbach, we'll make our way around the Gratlspitze, passing through the Hösljoch and returning to Alpbach. Throughout the hike, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Tyrolean mountain world.

Additionally, on this tour, you will find answers to the following questions:

  • How are our forests adapting to the changing climate?
  • What role do deadwood and woodpeckers play in the forest? What does natural regeneration mean and
  • What exactly is a natural forest?

During the hike, you will experience an ancient forest and its structures up close. Important habitats such as wetlands and ponds are there to be discovered.

The natural landscape surrounding the Gratlspitze is characterized by its unique flora. Along the way, you can admire several native flower species, such as Turk's-cap lilies and lady's slipper orchids. Due to the mining of copper and silver until the mid-19th century, the Gratlspitze has always been of great importance.
