Filial church Aschau in Brandenberg
Church services: Sun 10:00 a.m. - in the succursal church in Aschau
The church, a listed building belonging to the Archdiocese of Salzburg, is dedicated to the memory of Our Lady of Sorrows.
The interior of the church was painted by Johann Georg Lackner in 1852. Scenes from the life of Jesus and the crucifixion are depicted in the choir. The murals in the nave show "Apparition of the Cross to Constantine", the "Transfiguration", "The Bronze Serpent - Nehustan" as a prefiguration of Christ's crucifixion and other scenes from the Old Testament.
A baroque group of figures from the 18th century with the crucifix, Our Lady of Sorrows, two angels and St John the Evangelist and Mary Magdalene adorn the altar. There are two bracket statues of the saints Sebastian and Isidore and a figure of the Good Shepherd. The relief of a Pietà dates from the 19th century. The two-storey, western extension with a pent roof in extension of the main roof was built in 1968.
