Herb garden Brandenberg

In the mountain village Brandenberg you will not only lived customs and untouched nature, but also the traditional knowledge of the healing effects of Alpine herbs.

For many years Gertrude Messner and her husband have run the „Neuschwendt“ mountain farm, where she cultivates her green treasures in a permaculture herb garden. Not only do the herbs smell wonderfully aromatic, but they can be used for all kinds of small ailments.

Gertrude took the task upon her to process indigenous medicinal herbs in creams, oils, teas and ointments. In particular practitioners of alternative medicine swear that „there’s a herb for every ailment“ and according to Gertrude all you have to do is use natures powers growing on our doorstep.

Gertrude’s herbal knowledge is much appreciated in Austria and abroad. She has written two books – „Gertrude Messners Kräuterhandbuch“ and „Gesund durchs Jahr mit der Kräuterbäuerin“ (both are published by the Löwenzahn Verlag).
