Assumption Day - Feast of the Parish´s Patron Saint

The festive church service in honour of the parish's patron saint, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the traditional consecration of herbs on Assumption Day, will be followed by a procession.

The Assumption of Mary into Heaven is a Solemnity of the Roman Catholic Church. The belief in the bodily assumption of Mary into heaven has been attested since the 6th century and was elevated to dogma for the Roman Catholic Church in 1950 by Pope Pius XII in the Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus. In the Lauretan Litany, the invocation "you Queen, taken up to heaven" was added.

The patronage of a patron or patroness to whom an institution (church, hospital, school) is placed is celebrated by a patronal feast.
