Boutique Hotel Schloss Matzen
In the 12th century the castle Matzen was built in Romanesque style. Owners and appearance of the castle changed over the centuries. Today, the guest rooms are named after the various owners of the castle.
Schloss Matzen is one of the most historic sites in the Tyrol. It is known for its Romanesque “Bergfried” – the tower (the upwardly tapering "churn tower" is unique in Northern Tyrol), for its perimeter wall and the several courtyards with the arcades.
Inside the castle there are other historical jewels. Gothic chapel with baroque altar, the barrel-vaulted Knight's Hall with a fireplace and a library with antique hunting trophies.
The castle is surrounded by the 200,000 sqm Matzenpark, which can be visited directly from the castle. The park is one of the most beautiful and valuable natural monuments in the Tyrol. Below the castle, Gut Matzen is located and welcomes its guests in its beautifully designed restaurant, café and in the romantic garden restaurant.

Our Classic double rooms offer descreet luxury. They are approx. 35 m² in size and their antique marble bathroom is either equipped with a corner bathtub or a spacious shower room.
The Fieger Classic double room is named after a Tyrolean noble family and this historical legacy is reflected in the room. It is located in the middle court of the castle.
The Ross Classic double room has direct access to the lower courtyard of the castle with its impressive arcades. Warm red tones dominate the cozy room. Historical elements like the antique bed with a richly decorated headboard complete the perfect castle atmosphere.Room/apartment features

Our Grand Suites Fugger, Wittelsbacher and Pfeiffersberg (75m² approx.) are the most spacious and luxurious in the castle. All three are unique and differ in their layout. Their generous, cozy living rooms evoke the feeling of actually living in the castle!
All three suites offer splendid views onto the castle grounds with its lake and onto Matzenpark.
They are equipped with a historic tiled stove that invites you to snuggle up and is completed by the round corner seat and a comfortable sofa.
In the bedrooms elegant bedding and linen ensure a restful and healthy sleep.
The luxurious antique marble bath rooms are exceptionally generous. Feel like prince and princess as you relax in the large bathtubs.

Our Superior double rooms Türndl, Frundsberg, Yrsch and Stein (40 m² approx. each) are particularly spacious and are characterized by special, historic fitment and details.
Once Superior double room Türndl was the armory of the castle. Today it is particularly exquisite and offers the perfect setting for the elegant furniture and the magnificent carpet.
The count of Yrsch - namesake of double room Superior Yrsch - once was the owner of the castle. The room is particularly bright
and has a beautiful view onto the Matzenpark and the castle lake.
Superior double room Frundsberg is the castle´s "tower room" and characterized by the round wall of the neighboring historic tower. A tiled stove from the historic interior of the palace with ornate tiles exudes charm and coziness.
Superior double room Stein is very spacious. The wooden floor made from antique wood, cozy upholstered furniture and silk curtains create a cozy atmosphere where you feel immediately at ease.Room distribution

Junior Suite Carolsfeld (55 m² approx.) is the only one of its category. It is one spacious room - living and sleeping room in one!Especially charming is the tile stove with its dark-green tiles dating back to the Fugger era.
