Lake Zirein from Kramsach
Demanding hike to stunning Lake Zirein - significant elevation gain
Start from the Sonnwendjochbahn (defunct chairlift) car park in Kramsach and take path no. 9 to the turn off for the Kaltwasserbründl. Continue on path no. 8 to the Klosteralm (former middle station) and head up under the lift to the top station (approx. 3,5 h walking time) to the Berghaus Sonnwendjoch.
Take the path up to the Rosskogel Saddle. Head northwards walking through the Rosswies to Lake Zirein (approx. 50 min walking time).
To the west of the lake an uphill path leads to an intersection. Take the path to the left and walk to the Zireiner Alm. In the next curve follow the signs for Bayreuther Hütte and the Bergalm (approx. 1 h 30 min walking time).
Keep on the trails leading downhill to the car park in Kramsach (approx. 2 hours walking time). 20 min after the Bayreuther Hütte at the cattle grid look out for the signs for "Kramsach Talstation" (bottom station).
