Corpus Christi Procession

The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin: Sollemnitas Sanctissimi Corporis et Sanguinis Christi, Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ') is a Solemnity in the Catholic Church church year. The abiding presence of Jesus Christ is celebrated in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. After Mass, everyone gathers in the church square. Following a rifle salute given by the mountain infantry company, the procession of the faithful in festive costumes sets off. Passing lovingly tended houses, the procession stops at specially erected altars decorated with flowers. The congregation pray, sing and take time to be with God and proceed back to the parish church where the procession ends.
