Plot:
Scoop and shovel are two quirky but funny gravediggers in the dreary Moor Valley who just about make a living. They have a quirky sense of humour, eat with their fingers, drink any kind of booze and rarely wash themselves. Apart from the likeable farmhand Leo, they are shunned by everyone. The same applies to the village madwoman Philomena or the resolute moorland landlady Rosa, in whose run-down village tavern everything takes place. One day, the two diggers learn that their meagre salary will be cancelled in the future, but a small bonus will be paid for each burial. More digging, more money? A find of a bottle of poison quickly gives rise to dark thoughts. A pronounced curse of the village madwomen continues to haunt the village. Too much is not to be revealed, but ghosts are much more human than you might think. And the term ‘tormentors’ takes on a truly literal meaning for the two earth shovelers.
